K.P. LaMarco helps create dream custom deck and ramp for family’s pups
PROSPECT, Conn. (WTNH) — What started as a backyard renovation project became a custom outdoor living space designed for the entire family, including the dogs.
Ashley and Mike Kataja turned to K.P. LaMarco Roofing & Siding to transform the outdoor space at their Prospect home into a larger, more functional area for relaxing and entertaining.
The project featured a double-tiered deck, a standing-seam metal roof, black PVC railings and updated white exterior trim.
“I wanted something covered, and we wanted something larger,” Ashley Kataja said.
According to Kevin LaMarco, owner of K.P. LaMarco Roofing & Siding, the design focused on enhancing both comfort and curb appeal. A covered upper deck offers shade and protection from the elements, while a lower-level deck expands the home’s usable outdoor living space.
One of the project’s most unique features was designed with the family’s two bulldogs, Stella and Fiona, in mind. The homeowners requested a custom-built ramp to help the dogs safely travel between the deck and backyard.
The ramp was seamlessly integrated into the deck design, creating a safe, convenient pathway while preserving the overall look of the outdoor space.
LaMarco said the addition was a fun part of the project and demonstrates how thoughtful design can make a home more functional for every member of the family.
The Katajas say they are thrilled with the finished result, which combines style, functionality and pet-friendly features into a backyard retreat built for everyday living.
